Furniture sourcing from Poland

Working with Polish furniture manufacturers: what international buyers should expect

Practical notes from more than twenty years of connecting foreign clients with Polish factories.

Poland has a large furniture manufacturing industry, from small workshops to modern, family-run factories with automated lines. For an international buyer, the difficulty is rarely finding a factory at all. It is finding the right one, and then building a working relationship across language, culture and distance.

Many factories are family businesses

The manufacturers M7 works with are, on average, medium to large modern family-run companies. That tends to mean direct access to decision-makers, flexibility on special requests and a long-term view of customer relationships.

Own design or your design

Many producers have their own design capabilities and standard collections. Many overseas clients, however, want products made to their own design. Both routes are common; the brief and the development process differ.

Misunderstandings are normal, so plan for them

Foreign buyers and Polish manufacturers often have different expectations about specifications, communication and commercial terms. Most problems in international sourcing are not about quality; they are about assumptions that were never written down. Agreeing specifications, samples and responsibilities early prevents most of them.

Think beyond the first order

Manufacturers are not interested in one-order-wonders. They invest in quality to win repeat business. Buyers who approach a factory as a long-term partner usually get better attention, better planning and better results.

Where M7 fits in

M7 is a British-Polish company that understands both sides. We can place your production with one of the manufacturers we already work with, or search and select a factory for a specific request. We then stay involved through development, commercial, contractual and logistical questions.
